How much does a kitchen cost?
There are many of factors to consider when pricing a kitchen, not only is it the kitchen cabinets that need to be priced but also appliances, sinks, tap ware, lighting and other trades. As a general guideline for just the cabinetry a small kitchen can cost anywhere from $8,000 with the average kitchen cabinetry cost at around $20,000. Most Australian homeowners doing a medium size kitchen renovation will spend between $18,000 –$22,000 Just on the cabinets and bench tops.
Is it a good idea to buy a DIY flat pack Kitchen?
Ikea and Bunnings offer flat pack kitchens for the DIY enthusiast. In our industry it is important to be aware of how our competitors work in order to stay competitive. This is what our research came up with: Ikea and Bunnings Kaboodle Flat pack Kitchens offer high volume cabinetry at a discounted rate to the customer. Ikea and Kaboodle cabinets are sourced from China.
The particleboard from China is very low-density. Just like any flat pack to reduce shipping costs the components are made, dissembled and then the buyer assembles the cabinets at home. This is where you could run into problems due to the low-density particleboard, if you need to re-drill or nail the cabinet, there is a good chance the material will crumble.
You can run the risk of missing pieces with thousands of components in just one kitchen, even just one missing piece in a kitchen can cause all sorts of headaches. Before long what seemed like a weekend job can easily turn into a week long project with no operating kitchen plumbing or electrical.
There can be a colour variance in doors and drawer fronts due to the painting process being performed at different times and in different batches.
Another thing to take into consideration is the quality of hardware, we source European made hardware which has been engineered to last and work considerably quiet. The level of sound your hardware makes certainly counts for those early risers in the household.
What do I need to do to prepare for my kitchen installation?
We will communicate with you every step of the way. We will be sure to let us know with plenty of notice prior to installation you will need to clear away all of your personal property. Although we cover our work areas and try to keep mess to a minimum there will be a measure of dust, it is advisable to cover your furniture with plastic or sheets to protect them.
